The seventh Smart Green Island Makeathon took place from February 28th to March 2nd, 2024 at the Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria exhibition center in Las Palmas. At these events, students (and their professors) from all over the world have the opportunity to implement a technical project in a team under the guidance and support of industrial companies. We took a closer look at this.
The young people have to get together in groups, plan the project, implement it and present their progress every evening. That's sporty, but all teams were highly motivated and, without exception, all of them told our editor on site that they had no concerns about completing their project in this time frame.
Event father and managing director of ITQ, Dr. Rainer Stetter sees the event as an opportunity for students to get out of the theoretical everyday university life and learn directly in a practical way. In a conversation, he enthusiastically talked about how this event is getting bigger every year and how more and more students are taking part. “Soon the hall won't be enough anymore,” he said enthusiastically as he pointed to the students around him.
