Of the counseling of Vox inside of the Valencian governmentat from Culturewhich he directs the first vice president of the Executive Vicente Barreraand Agriculture, responsibility of Jose Luis Aguirrehave signed this Friday a collaboration agreement to rehabilitation of the medieval bridge of Barrosolocated in the municipality of Castielfabib, in Rincón de Ademuz, also in Valenciaan administrative enclave located between Cuenca and Teruel, but which is part of the Valencian Community. Vicente Barrera and José Luis Aguirre have visited Castielfabib to sign the corresponding agreement that launches the rehabilitation.
The project of Rehabilitation of the bridge has been “on hold” for more than 20 years, as Vicente Barrera explained this Friday. The infrastructure is of late-medieval origin and has documented collapses as early as the 19th century. It was in that same century when the Barrioso bridge acquired relevance in the context of the first Carlist war, because it was a crossing point between Teruel and Barrioso. Now, with its rehabilitation, the Generalitat Valenciana responds to a demand “not only from Castielfabib, but from its entire surroundings”, as Vicente Barrera has also explained.
Precisely, it was in August, shortly after the new Valencian government of Carlos Mazón took office, when the mayor of Castielfabib addressed the Valencian Minister of Agriculture José Luis Aguirre to address the situation of the bridge, which It had sunk 21 years ago, in 2003, as a result of strong storms.
In the municipality there is an agricultural livestock transit route, which is known as Cordel from Hoya del Peral to Mas de la Cabrera and that they used 4,000 sheep and horses now replaced by tractors.
The collapse of the bridge over the Ebron River brought about the lack of communication between the four villages on its left bank. Specifically: Cuesta Rato, Más de Jacinto, Los Santos and Mas de los Mudos, as well as the Castielfabib crops, which were on that side of the river.
To date, solutions ranging from a wooden bridge to an iron walkway have been implemented, but the works had not been carried out that allow this infrastructure to be recovered.
This February 29, in a meeting held by the general director of Agricultural and Livestock Production of the Valencian Ministry of Agriculture Simon Martinez and the general director of Cultural Heritage of Alicante Pilar Tébar Both ministries showed their interest in the rehabilitation of the bridge. And, now, they are starting a collaboration for this.
For Vicente Barrera, with the rehabilitation the Valencian Government “fulfills its responsibility to support the recovery and reactivation of the interior regions» through, in this case, the revitalization of rural tourism.
Barrera has also highlighted the Executive's commitment to “recovery” of Valencian heritage as well as the livestock routes, as in the case of the Barrioso bridge, “which give rise to so much history and so much wealth that we must preserve and recover.”
José Luis Aguirre has stated that “this advice“, the name by which the Valencian Government is called in this Community, “when it commits to something it fulfills it.” Furthermore, Aguirre has highlighted that This rehabilitation is “an example” of institutional collaboration“which in addition to structuring the historical fabric of roads and livestock trails, can be a point of tourist attraction that, together with other architectural and landscape elements of said town, will contribute to generating tourist interest.”
