The Council of Mallorca chaired by popular Llorenç Galmés has presented at the Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB) a collaboration agreement with the Mallorca Preservation Foundation with the aim of preserving the natural beauty and environmental excellence of Mallorca.
The agreement with the foundation he presides Hans Lenz aims to materialize some of the Pledge aspects, linked to the Commitment to responsible tourism. The objective of the parties is consolidate the island as a destination where responsible tourism reigns in order to make this island continue to be a wonderful place both to live and to visit.
It is worth remembering that Mallorca's Responsible Tourism Commitment began last November 2023. The manifesto has the support and accessions of UNWTO, more than half of the island's municipalitiesdifferent entities and companies and Mallorca Preservation.
This Pledge was born with the conviction that it was necessary to shape the future of travel to Mallorca in a way that balance the needs of travelers and the island's environment. It emerged working in close collaboration with local and international institutions and with the support of visitors and residents.

For this reason, among the first joint initiatives that MAPF and Consell de Mallorca-Fundació Mallorca Turismo will carry out is the “Welcome!” campaignwhich last year began to spread Mallorca Preservation to influence tourists who visit the island so that they contribute to protect and that, through small actions, we can all contribute to change.
The president of the Mallorca Preservation Foundation, Hans Lenzhas assured that “the signed commitment goes beyond a mere letter of intent: both the Consell and Mallorca Preservation are united with responsible residents and visitors of Mallorca to produce real action, conserve nature and regenerate man-made damage. This renewed eco-awareness can serve as an example to other mature destinations worldwide.

The Pledge covers eight main areas of action that adhere to different sustainable development objectives, thus reinforcing the fundamental message of the Commitment:
- Mallorca will be your home for a while, take care of it as if it were yours. – To remember that the environment deserves the civic behavior of its visitors.
- Appreciate and protect nature, it will reflect it. – You are encouraged to enjoy the nature of the island, but always with respect.
- The traces of unforgettable moments will be the only thing you leave behind. – Minimizing the ecological impact on an individual basis is essential to consciously consume natural resources.
- Everything local is the key. Buy, consume and live locally. – Support the local economy, with the consumption of gastronomic and artisan products.
- Observe marine life. Take only photos, don't kill anything but time. – Respect and enjoy the seabed.
- Rs to protect the environment; Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. – Live more sustainably, recycling and being aware of the elements that pollute.
- Communities of heart. Glocal guests: global tourist, local heart. Guests and residents are the ones who must take care of Mallorca.
