Teresa Helbig has always maintained that her elegant dresses have a rock edge. And this Thursday she took her entire band of faithful followers to Paris, where she paraded for the first time with Iberia, with a collection inspired by The Miserables, by Victor Hugo. At the Joseph gallery, located in the Le Marais neighborhood and which once housed the Pierre Cardin museum, the Catalan designer, 2023 National Fashion Award winner, presented her designs for autumn and winter 2024-25, in a presentation called 1832 On Sea, in reference to the year to which the story of redemption and justice of the memorable novel refers. The nods to France were constant in an event that has been a very real dream for Teresa Helbig.
On a plane named after her, a hundred guests flew yesterday to Paris to accompany the designer, who has always surrounded herself with people who give her good energy and affectionately call her Helbig gang. After spending a very nervous week, just before turning on the lights for the show, Teresa Helbig assured that she was calm and happy. “We have worked a lot to get here,” she commented backstage, with her new designs ready for the show. From the colors, where red, blue and white predominated, to the patterns, such as the long coats reaching to the feet, they were reminiscent of French culture.
He always wanted to parade here and at sixty years old and more than thirty years working with his own brand he has achieved it. In the front row, supporting the designer were actresses like Macarena Gómez – with her husband Aldo Comas -, Leonor Watling or Cristina Brondo, actors like Gorka Otxoa, the film director Clara Roquet, the singer Luz Casal or the writer Elvira Lindo . In addition, faces from gossip magazines such as Eugenia Martínez de Irujo and a good number of influencersall of them wearing dresses from one of their collections.
Getting to Paris has not been an easy journey, but Teresa Helbig, who learned the trade with her mother, Teresa Blasco, who is still in the workshop, has worked tirelessly. Her goal has been to create fantasy clothing, dresses that feel good and also empower women. It is not in vain that her motto is 'a Helbig woman never goes unnoticed'. Looking back, this authenticity, remaining faithful to her path despite the adversities, of which there have been, she acknowledges, has been her greatest lever of success.

With a team of 22 people, his workshop is in Barcelona, in a modernist building in Eixample, where he also has his home. But its dresses fly high and reach everywhere, from its showrooms in Madrid and Los Angeles, in addition to specific events that the brand organizes such as the latest pop up In New York. Úrsula Corberó, Halle Berry and Zendaya have worn Helbig on some occasions, in addition to Queen Letizia.
The collection presented, 1832 On Sea, works as a metaphor for his career, based on traditional techniques giving value to craftsmanship, with a modern look with historicist roots. Miniskirts with long tailored coats, knitted jackets embroidered with bloomers or padded micro dresses, as well as fantasy dresses have been the most eye-catching garments of a parade that ended with the public standing, applauding the two Teresas, who ended up leaving together to greet. It seems that destiny has done justice to the designer, who always faithful to her style and oblivious to her trends, has finally fulfilled her dream of walking in Paris.
