The Queen Sofia has attended the Easter concert: Mozart's Requiemwhich was held this Monday in the Cathedral of Mallorca for the benefit of the entity Projecte Home Balears.
The queen emeritus arrived a few minutes after 8:30 p.m., accompanied by her sister Irene of Greece and, in front of the portico of La Seu, he greeted the different authorities who had gathered to receive them, among whom was the president of Congress, Francina Armengolthe President of the Government, Marga Prohens, the president of the parliament, Gabriel Le Senneor the president of the Council of Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés.
Once the official reception had taken place, Sofía entered the central nave of the cathedral, where she greeted the bishop of Mallorca, Sebastian Taltavull. Received with applause from the 1,800 people who attended the charity event, she went to her seat in the front row to enjoy Mozart's Requiem, performed by the Orquestra Simfònica de Balears, under the baton of Pablo Mielgo.
In addition to the orchestra, the musical piece has had the participation of the Choir of the University of the Balearic Islands, directed by Núria Cunillera, and the Chapel of the Seu, directed by Joan Company.
On this occasion, the solo voices that accompanied the music were the soprano Irene Morethe mezzo-soprano Begoña Gomezthe tenor Joan Lainez and the baritone David Menendez
This is the 15th edition of the concert to be held and the proceeds from this solidarity event will go to finance treatment and prevention programs of Projecte Home Balears.
Projecte Home Balears was established in 1987 and its mission is to prevent, care for and respond to the problems generated by addictions in Balearic society through research and development of prevention and therapy programs – individual or group – that offer an alternative. effective and adapted to people affected by addiction and their family environment, to achieve their autonomy, personal growth and adequate socio-labor integration.
From Projecte Home Balears, they have expressed their “sincere gratitude” to all the entities that have participated and collaborated in this initiative for their commitment and support.
