The Government of Pedro Sánchez has closed an agreement with Junts to modify the Amnesty Law, so that it passes the vote in the Congress of Deputies. As OKDIARIO has learned, the final text includes all its demands, that is, the erasure of the crimes of terrorism, treason and embezzlement. The PSOE thus completely submits to the claims of Carles Puigdemont and closes a tailor-made law, which completely protects all separatists prosecuted by the process.
The justification for the amnesty for the crime of terrorism lies, according to negotiation sources, in the consideration of the crime based on the more lax international law, and not on the Spanish Penal Code. The negotiators consider that, in this way, the amnesty will shield the self-proclaimed Tsunami or Committees for the Defense of the Republic (CDR). Just a few days ago, the Supreme Court confirmed the consideration of the judge of the National Court, Manuel García-Castellón, that the events promoted by Tsunami “are included in the crime of terrorism.”
Including treason in the amnesty has, for its part, important consequences, since it would fully affect the so-called Russian plot, the Kremlin's interference in the separatist process. Regarding embezzlement, they argue that “there was no personal gain” and, therefore, the crime should be amnestied.
