In an operation in different provinces of the country, the National Police has arrested seven people and is investigating another four for allegedly storing child pornography in the cloud or internet servers. Some of those arrested used instant messaging applications to exchange child pornography files and specifically one of them used a video conferencing application to contact minors, from whom he demanded photographs of a sexual nature in exchange for sending them other photographs of the same nature. nature.
As reported this Wednesday by the General Directorate of the Police, the investigation has been carried out by the Central Cybercrime Unit and has spread across nine different provinces: Alicante, Asturias, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Palencia, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.
Once the investigations began, the agents found out that the suspects kept pornographic files in remote storage, located in the cloud, instead of on physical devices. They did this to avoid being discovered in the event that a family member or friend had access to their electronic devices and to be able to access the content, add, delete or even edit it from any terminal.
During the searches at the homes of the detainees, a total of six mobile phones were intercepted, one tablet, three laptops, three hard drives and a USB memory. The National Police has enabled an email address ([email protected]) so that any citizen who has information on the dissemination, possession and storage of child pornography can communicate it in a completely anonymous and confidential manner.
