Malware and hacker attacks are no longer just a Windows issue – Linux servers and the services running on them are also increasingly coming under attack. The five-day intensive workshop Hardening Linux Servers: Encryption, Access Control, Integrity Checks deals comprehensively with the security of Linux servers. The range of topics ranges from physical security and access control mechanisms to logging, monitoring and intrusion detection.

Security frameworks, access control and authentication
You will learn how to encrypt data and secure network services, set up advanced access control methods such as two-factor authentication, and use the well-known security frameworks SELinux and AppArmor. Florian Winkler explains how to analyze log files with security-relevant incidents and also addresses the topic of intrusion detection. You will also receive a theoretical introduction to penetration testing and learn how to specifically detect security gaps in your own IT.
The iX workshop will take place from April 15 to 19, 2024 via video conference in a remote classroom. Trainer Florian Winkler has been working as a consultant and trainer at the Linux system house B1 Systems since 2014. His focus is on the areas of configuration management, DevOps, deployment, security and automation.
Lots of practice
So that you can try out what you have learned in this workshop and do it yourself, you will receive ssh access to Linux systems provided in a training environment. The workshop is interactive: you have the opportunity to ask the speaker questions and exchange ideas with the other participants at any time. To ensure that this works well, the group size is limited to a maximum of 12 people.
