Gredos
In this place of crystal clear waters, steep rocks and green forests, the history of Paradores begins. Inaugurated by Alfonso XIII on October 9, 1928, the Parador de Gredos became the first establishment of the Network.
Its construction was carried out using elements transferred from the Villacastín manor house, which gives it a robust stone and slate architecture. Inside, Castilian-inspired, rustic wood creates noble and cozy spaces, while its terraces offer impressive views of the Sierra de Gredos.
Furthermore, this Parador has a prominent place in history, since it was the setting where the fathers of the Constitution met in 1978 to draft the Magna Carta. The Hall of Silence, renamed the Hall of Speakers, preserves the atmosphere of that historic meeting where the first text of the Spanish Constitution was drawn up.
The cuisine of the Parador de Gredos is distinguished by its forcefulness and simplicity, characteristics that reflect the authenticity of traditional mountain cuisine. In line with the Castilian recipe book, it offers a culinary proposal rooted in pastoral tradition.
