Almost everywhere on the web you need your own account, which should be provided with a password that is as secure as possible. In the best case scenario, the account is additionally protected by a second factor. The last aspect in particular falls victim to convenience far too often in everyday life. Thanks to a new method, logins will be more convenient and, above all, more secure in the future. Ideally, you no longer need any passwords at all. This minimizes the risk of losing online access to attackers as a result of phishing attacks.

In the webinar “Passkeys instead of passwords”, c't editor Kathrin Stoll explains what passkeys actually are, how they work and, above all, how you can use them in everyday life: Instead of a password that you have to think up and remember, you get A passkey for each account that you save on your smartphone, tablet or computer. But what happens if you lose your smartphone or if the password manager is hacked? You will find out exactly why classic phishing attempts will no longer be successful in the future. As is often the case, not everything that glitters is gold: some operating systems may still have startup difficulties. In the webinar you will learn what you can do to still use passkeys.
