A 41-year-old man strangled his 81-year-old mother in the house where they both lived in the Cantabrian town of Hinojedo, in the municipality of Suances, and then hanged himself, according to investigation sources.
The Civil Guard was notified yesterday afternoon by a relative that neither the son nor the mother were answering the phone or giving any signals, and armed institute agents approached the home.
Already at the house, late this Wednesday afternoon, the agents found the woman, with “signs of having been strangled, possibly with a rope or cable.” The son, with whom the woman lived, was also in the house and had hanged himself.
According to investigation sources, the mother had health problems because she had suffered a stroke.
The mayor of Suanzes, Andrés Ruiz Moya, has stated that the neighbors are “really dismayed”, since it is a “well-known” family, especially in the town of Hinojedo.
