Charles Leclerc took pole in the Formula 1 Azerbaijan GP. The Monegasque pilot beat the time of Carlos Sainz in his last attempt and snatched the first position on the starting grid from his teammate. The Spaniard was close to pole but a mistake in the first sector of the last flying lap left him out of the top 3 and he will start fourth in Baku.
Sainz forced to Leclerc, Perez y Verstappen to squeeze the cars to the maximum to beat their time. In the battle between the two Red Bulls, Checo was the one who took the cat to the water and will start ahead of the reigning world champion on the starting grid of the Azerbaijan GP.
Secondly, Fernando Alonso managed to get into Q3 but could not improve and will start from tenth position. Despite the good performance in free practice on Friday, the Alpine It still doesn’t work in rank. However, it is a good result since his teammate, Ocón, stayed in Q2.
