The People’s Party has demanded the appearance in Congress of the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, Jose Luis Escriva, as a result of the scandal with the new self-employed quotas that came into force this month of January. As revealed OK DAILYSocial Security experienced a day of chaos on Tuesday because hundreds of thousands of self-employed workers who saw their contributions skyrocket by 220 euros.
This negligence mainly affected the group that enjoyed flat rate of contributions, as well as that of traveling workers. In the first case -the new self-employed who benefit from this incentive to launch their activity-, this rate should have risen from the 60 euros per month that they paid in 2022 to 80 euros. But the aforementioned incompetence caused them to be directly charged the minimum fee for the self-employed in general, 299 euros.
In other words, this group has seen how, in a single month, they have gone from paying 60 a 299 euros (417 if they are self-employed corporate). A rise of 219 euros that many of these freelancers cannot afford, especially considering that they are in the initial phase of their business, when it is normal for them to still be in business. losses.
write has guaranteed this Thursday that “in the next few days” the amount of the Social Security fee that they have been overcharged due to an administrative error will be reimbursed to the self-employed. «We have started with a new system and those people who were entitled to a particularly reduced quota, this criterion has not been applied to them. These administrative errors, when a new procedure is started, sometimes occur but it will be immediately corrected », he explained.
The head of the Social Security has indicated that the error in the collection of the quota to these affected self-employed workers was detected immediately and that the cases have been identified to proceed with the refund of the amount charged for excess. As the Ministry explained yesterday, Social Security charged the normal minimum fee to the new self-employed, those who registered between January 1 and 9, instead of the 80 euros of the flat rate that would correspond to them.
For this reason, Social Security will shortly make a refund of fees ex officio to those affected by the difference between the 80 euros that corresponds to them of the flat rate and the invoiced fee. In addition, Social Security will correctly calculate the contributions for the month of February and the 8,000 self-employed affected will be charged the exclusive flat rate of 80 euros.
