The Community of Madrid has assured this Saturday that “it cannot prohibit” the Mundocrypto Metaverse Day event that is being held this Saturday at the Wizink Center because they would be “appealing to illegality.” The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Interior of the Community of Madrid, Henry Lopezhas clarified to journalists this Saturday that the regional government has no powers in the crypto event.
«Faced with an activity that is not regulated but is not prohibited, the Community of Madrid cannot prohibit the holding of this act. If he did, he might be doing something illegal. We are facing a rule of law and we must remember it », he stressed.
In this sense, López has acknowledged his concern about “everything related to cryptocurrencies and everything called investment bars”, which are not controlled by financial entities with the necessary powers to do so.
“Who has the individual responsibility to control possible situations of illegality or related activities (…) is the Ministry of Economy, the National Securities Commission and the Bank of Spain. They are economic authorities that have to ensure the proper functioning of the market », he stressed.
CNMV alert of the event
The counselor has also asked the opposition of the regional government that instead of sending letters to the Community of Madrid, specifically to the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruzcriticizing this event and calling for its ban, to be done by “those who have the competition” to control it.
The event on cryptocurrencies has been in the spotlight this week after the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) recalled that the organizing company, MundoCrypto, “does not have any type of license to advise on financial instruments or intermediate operations of investment in financial instruments’.
