Richard Albans presented the Super Busa on August 20, 2022 for the 40th anniversary of his company TTS Performance. A Hayabusa that fans of the legendary speed bikes and top performance fetishists have been wanting for a long time, but one that Suzuki will probably never have.
There is more potential in the 1300 series four-cylinder
For about the second half of the company’s existence, TTS Performance has specialized in tuning the Suzuki Hayabusa. Suzuki’s “fast falcons” have been around since 1999 and have enjoyed great success in the drag racing scene ever since. There – and in Silverstone – Richard Albans from TTS is at home, he is himself a long-standing and successful drag racer. For the 40th company anniversary, he gave himself and all other Hayabusa fans the Super Busa. Something like this is no longer to be expected directly from the factory, the 3rd generation of the 1300 series four-cylinder engine presented for 2021 has remained below the 200 hp mark. A brand that is now being torn by some 1000cc super athletes. This is disappointing for the hardcore fans, because the Busa engine is capable of more. Much higher.
Compressor plus intercooler
This higher comes from TTS Performance, where a compressor, type Rotrex C30-94 plus intercooler is mounted. Maximum turbine speed: 100,000 rpm. The fine-tuning including boost pressure control is not yet complete, but the Super Busa has already delivered impressive values on the test bench with the preliminary adjustment: 372 hp and around 260 Nm of torque, each at around 10,000 crankshaft revolutions per minute.
Design-Tuning von Kar Lee
But Richard Albans didn’t just want to limit the Super Busa to compressor tuning. He asked designer Kar Lee (Kardesign) for help with the super-worthy makeover. With large aerodynamic fins on the front of the fairing, which weren’t quite finished by the anniversary party. The plan is for the final version to be made of carbon, and provisional wings from the 3D printer were fitted for the show bike. The Super Busa also uses Rotobox carbon wheels, a single-sided swingarm, upgraded spring elements and larger brake discs. Last but not least, Kar Lee has designed various paint finishes and decors, most notably the brand-typical variant in white/blue.
40 copies of the Super Busa as a small series
In line with the TTS anniversary, 40 copies of the Super Busa are planned as a small series. Prices: from 45,999 pounds sterling (approx. 54,000 euros). Thus, the Super Busa costs almost exactly three times as much as an original Suzuki Hayabusa, vintage 2022 (from 18,490 euros, 190 hp rated power). However, the Super Busa has about twice as much power.
torque! Print! Power!
Rotational speed! Speed! Power!
A Super Busa that really deserves this name. With over 370 hp supercharged power. And with a correspondingly sharpened appearance. Not from Suzuki, but at least as a small series from TTS Performance.
