The premium subscription to the streaming service RTL+ will be more expensive from March 1st: it will then cost 7 instead of the previous 5 euros per month. In return, subscribers get two new features with a download function and the option to view content in the original version.
The family subscription level, for which RTL charges 19 euros a month, is newly introduced. The family subscription is based on the Max subscription from RTL+, so it includes the entire range, including the Deezer audio book and radio play catalogue. In contrast to the conventional Max subscription, the family subscription can be used on up to four screens at the same time.
RTL Max is also becoming more expensive: in future it will cost 13 euros per month instead of the previous 10 euros per month. Like the Family subscription, the Max subscription offers access to the entire portfolio of the streaming service. With the Max subscription, you can stream on a maximum of two devices at the same time. Max and Family are also ad-free – even RTL+ Premium includes occasional commercial breaks.
Basic subscription with (even more) advertising
The heavily restricted basic subscription, which can be used free of charge, is still offered. Here the streaming resolution is reduced, a lot of TV content is missing and music streaming is completely eliminated. In addition, you have to live with additional advertising in the basic subscription. The current RTL+ tariffs can still be booked for one month until February 28th.
RTL+ was known as TVNow until 2021 and bundles all of the private broadcaster’s TV offerings with additional features such as music streaming. RTL published estimates of the environmental impact of streaming last October: One hour of RTL+ streaming results in average emissions of 42.7 grams of CO₂ equivalents. That corresponds to a car journey of 150 meters.
