It was the high point of the night. Isabel Diaz Ayuso had electrified a dedicated audience of more than 1,700 people. And it all came about after the conference, when the president allowed questions to be asked from the auditorium and a spectator blurted out: «What will become of Isabel Diaz Ayuso when I leave the Community of Madrid”?, which was followed by a spontaneous reaction from the public with shouts of “President, President!”.
«Each one must be at the service of Spain from their position, from where they understand that they can contribute something. I serve Spain through the Community of Madrid, which is my capital and which I love. There is much that remains for me to do and that is more than enough,” said Ayuso, who recalled that “autonomic presidents have to understand that we are only representatives of the State, not owners of our terroirs.”
The president said that her time had not come, because “I am a newcomer. As Eduardo has said before, only three years ago she didn’t even know that she would be a candidate and now they tell me to come, to La Moncloa, and that can’t be like that».
As for the future, he said that “I am fully convinced that change in Spain is unstoppable, and I am also sure that the Government knows this. That is why they are already placing related parties and taking the policy to the extreme so that whoever comes will have a harder time correcting it. What I want above all else is for Feijoo to be president. That will be the happiest day of my life.”
“Furthermore, as regional president it will be a relief for me, because everything this government does is go against the Community of Madrid. This does not happen anywhere in the world”, added Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who concluded with a blunt sentence: “I know that Madrid will be my beginning and my end and I am very happy with that”.
