Carlos Sainz has not hidden his bitterness after the qualifying session of the Singapore Grand Prix. The Spaniard slipped a criticism of his team for not having warned him with a margin of his possibilities in Q3. Looking ahead to Sunday, he did not rule out fighting for victory on a day where his teammate Leclerc start from the first position.
“It was a bit of a chaotic qualifying, a lot of traffic in Q1 and Q2 without being able to make good laps. In Q3 we were right with the tyres. The only thing was the last lap, that I was the first to cross the finish line. The track was drying up and it was clear that those who were behind were going to improve. These are things that we have to keep improving. I didn’t know I had another lap to go because they didn’t tell me. We have to improve that, but even so I was a tenth and a half from pole position.”
Starting fourth, the goal is to make a good start, try to get to the podium and if you can win, even better. It is a circuit where everything can happen, or nothing. Either a lot of ‘safety car’ or a boring race because you can’t overtake. Let’s see what we find tomorrow », he told DAZN.
