The PSOE candidate for mayor of Madrid, Reyes Maroto, has warned this Saturday at the presentation of his candidacy that, if he manages to hold the command baton of the capital, he will put “as an example” the Government of Pedro Sánchez .
The still Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, has proclaimed that she has “good examples to imitate” among which is, “without a doubt”, the Government of Spain, as well as the socialist mayors of municipalities in Madrid.
In this sense, Maroto has promised to “reactivate” the city’s social elevator, imitating measures imposed by the Sánchez government such as “the revaluation of pensions, unemployment benefit, Minimum Vital Income or extensions of aid for public transport” .
The minister, who was accompanied by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchezand by the leader of the PSOE-M, Juan Lobatoin the act that took place in Villaverde, has harshly criticized the current municipal government, led by the popular Jose Luis Martinez-Almeidacalling him an “anti-feminist” and a “climate change denier.” In addition, he has assured that it is a “sad and gray” Executive.
“Madrid has a big problem that is its gaps, inequalities must be addressed, poverty must be reduced by activating the social elevator,” he launched.
During his first year in office, Maroto has promised to “strengthen social services, improving and expanding benefits for the most disadvantaged, such as home help”, “increasing the amount of the Family Card and making it compatible with the RMI and the IMV», and «open Spaces for Equality and recover feminist Madrid». In addition, she has promised to build “15,000 new rental homes and abide by the Village Agreements.”
Reyes Maroto has boasted of “management” at the head of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and has promised to transfer it to the municipal government if he manages to win the Mayor’s Office in the elections on May 28.
He has also recalled the importance of the arrival of the European Funds, which he has highlighted as Sánchez’s achievement, and has made Almeida ugly for trying to “sabotage them in Brussels” while she “traveled the world” looking for investment, among others, for the capital.
“Imagine the momentum and transformation they could bring if managed well. The key is management. You have to know how to manage. I bring enthusiasm, but also management experience in the Ministry », he said.
“Here, as they say, I come examined from home, and I would dare to say that with good grades. I think the best for Madrid is yet to come. I say this because I am convinced of it, because I am excited to achieve it and because I consider myself capable enough to manage this path. For that, I will put all my knowledge and my effort into obtaining a great result at the polls and reaching the mayoralty of this great city”, she added.
