The closure forced by the coronavirus represented, in March 2020, the beginning of a difficult moment for artists, but also an opportunity to unleash a talent that continues to flourish many months after planting its seed. With the pandemic happily out of the way, at least as far as measures are concerned, on October 1 a play called bridge for todayof the inexperienced and humble company Slim Productionswith the aim of promoting the acting abilities of its protagonists and, at the same time, the feelings of the spectators.
The creator of the work and founder of Slim Productions, Álvaro Delgado, chats with OKDIARIO to explain the background of a theatrical piece that will not leave anyone indifferent. “When ordinary people ask me about the work, I like to summarize it in this”, he begins, before synthesizing the content in an extreme and informal way. “It’s about a kid who’s going to jump off a bridge. And his best friend accompanies him while », comments the versatile artist, who stars in the performance hand in hand with his inseparable companion in fatigue, the also young Javier Lera.
Delgado recounts how the work came about, something for which you have to go back to March 2020, with the mental health of confinement as a prism. “It is a work written during quarantine, when Gustavo Rojo and I, in order not to climb the walls, forced ourselves to do Zoom sessions from Monday to Friday from 12pm to 2pm to do something with our lives. And this came out”, comments the actor from Madrid, a young talent with several important theatrical performances behind him in the capital’s off theaters.
bridge for today It has, in addition to “a lot of love and work” as its protagonists point out, a hidden story within one of the great problems of today’s society, such as mental health and its fatal consequences. However, the appearance of friendship causes a twist and in turn a total impact that will mark the work, which can be enjoyed on Saturdays in October at The Threshold of Springin the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés.
