The president of the PP of the Balearic Islands and candidate of this formation in the next regional elections on May 28, Marga Prohens, has promised this Thursday to promote a own legislation that allows saving the beach bars of the Balearic Islands that the socialist president of the Government, Pedro Sanchez and that of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, they want to close with the restrictions derived from the modification of the regulations of Coasts.
During a visit by the leader popular to the island of Formentera, the most affected by the application Derived from these restrictions on economic activity on the coast, Prohens has today committed to drafting an autonomous law “to protect the balance between human activity, the protection of the coastline and the idiosyncrasy of Formentera.”
He announced it during the meeting he had with the platform for those affected in Formentera by the new regulation of Coasts, of which he has assured that “it endangers private property, businesses and the way of life” on this island.
The leader of the PP, accompanied by the deputy Michael Jerezof the senator Vicente Martinez Musas well as the spokesman for the Su Union coalition, Lorenzo Córdobaand the president of the PP of Formentera, Jose Alcarazhas met with those affected by the new regulations of the Government of Pedro Sánchez approved last August and whose effects he already asked the Minister of Ecological Transition last October, Teresa Ribera, in the Congress of Deputies.
In this sense, the president of the popular in the Islands has committed to work on the modification of the regulationwhich is not applied on the island of Formentera in the terms currently provided, since “develop an autonomous law that shields the balance between the protection of the coast and human activity”, as communities governed by the PP, such as Murcia or Galicia, are already doing.
“You cannot punish Formentera or make a regulation without knowing the reality of the island from inside the M-30”, claimed Prohens, who recalled that “if currently Formentera is in danger and is the most affected region of Spain Due to this interventionist regulation, it is because of the appeal that the PSOE filed to overthrow the exceptionality achieved by the PP in the 2013 law, “he recalled.
“My personal commitment and that of the PP is to defend that this regulation cannot be applied, that it shows ignorance of the Formentera coastline, and that it affects its idiosyncrasies and inhabitants,” added Prohens.
“I don’t want to be a president like Armengol, who forgets Formentera and hides those affected, in addition to this regulationa strategic plan for the protection of the Coast that continues to harm them and that is being processed at night and without their participation,” he concluded.
