The Minister of Finance and Public Function, María Jesús Montero, stated this Wednesday that the Government has carried out “the largest tax reduction that an Executive has ever made”, with 10,000 million euros of savings for families and companies, in a context marked by rising prices.
This is how the minister responded to the deputy of Vox, Inés María Cañizares, who has reproached the head of the Treasury in the Lower House for refusing to reduce taxes on the middle and working class. In addition, the deputy has criticized that what is collected by the Government “is not distributed in the Robin Hood style, but rather in the feudal lord style, preserving it to finance its causes, its beach bars and its ministerial excesses.”
“If they make a speech here in support of the middle class, why do they vote no to the transport bonus to make it free on Cercanías and Rodalies? Why do they deny the complementary scholarship for minors? Why do you vote against lowering the VAT on gas or electricity?”, the head of the Treasury replied.
Faced with the requests of both the PP and Vox to undertake tax cuts in the current situation, Montero recalled that it was the governments of the right that carried out the largest tax increase and raised taxes on the working class more than 50 times, “with a shameful tax amnesty that the Constitutional Court even declared illegal”.
“Those are your recipes in the face of the crisis”, the minister emphasized after assuring that Vox “dwelled in the Popular Party”. “You are the same together and the same separately, because you live in the Popular Party”, stressed the minister, who has reproached them for her vote against the banking and energy tax.
