Microsoft has published more extensive information about the features of the paid Teams Premium. The payment service is also now generally available. The company is focusing on the new AI functions that are intended to enrich the collaboration tool – features that are intended to save customers money in economically uncertain times.
The financial savings potential for enterprise customers is greatest thanks to artificial intelligence, explains Microsoft in the feature blog post. The tools, which the company has recently invested heavily in developing, “promise to increase individual, team and organizational productivity and fundamentally transform the way we work.” Automatically created text summaries of meetings should save the working time of the workforce. In addition, Teams Premium, also AI-supported, creates task lists generated from meetings and automatic chapter markings on request. Some of these features are already available at the start of Teams Premium, others are to follow in the coming months.
The end of real-time translators?
In addition, the team AI makes expensive real-time translators obsolete: with 40 available languages, non-native speakers will in future be presented with live translations of the spoken word as subtitles.
New in Premium are branded meetings, which can present company logos and colors in a way that is effective for the public if desired. In addition, admins can now create meeting templates that contain settings for who can speak, when and how. Admins can now also assign user roles to employees with similar positions in the company and thus limit which functions are available to them in teams. On the security side, the ability to display watermarks in meetings and the restriction of the recording function to certain users should protect companies from leaks. Particularly sensitive meetings can also be encrypted end-to-end.
On top of that, Teams Premium contains the functions, virtual appointments with customers, who can now participate via browser without a Teams application, and the option of hosting webinars via Microsoft Teams. For all these functions, some of which are already offered by other software providers, companies have had to spend large sums of money individually, argues Microsoft. Teams Premium customers instead got the features “at a great price of $10 per user per month.” Microsoft charges a starting price of $7 per month for the first few months.
