Fresh Apple hardware in January: With the new M2 Pro and M2 Max, the manufacturer has updated and accelerated the MacBook Pro series. The Mac mini also got the M2 update and a surprise price drop. And with the M2 Pro, Apple is offering the compact desktop Mac with a more powerful chip for the first time.
In episode 37 of the Mac & i Apple podcast, Malte Kirchner and Leo Becker discuss the test results of the new Macs with fellow editors Johannes Schuster and Holger Zelder. Among other things, it is about the question of how big the M2 performance leap is in practical use, what the Pro and Max version of the chip can do, whether the fans start up faster and what other improvements the new hardware brings with it. The reports about slower SSDs in the basic models of the new Macs are also a topic – as are Apple’s HomePod 2 and the end-to-end encryption for iCloud that is now available in Germany.
