iOS should become more personal and smarter: Apple announced a completely new lock screen for iPhones on Monday at the WWDC 2022 developer conference, which the user can design and customize, among other things. Small status widgets should display additional information, such as weather data or the next appointment. It is also possible to create multiple lock screens and switch between them.
Users should also have more control over their notifications and optionally hide them quickly on the lock screen. A new live mode is intended to include certain information as a live view in notifications, such as the status of a food delivery or sports results. Apple is also expanding the focus mode, which will also be able to adjust the lock screen and intervene in apps in the future, for example in the Safari browser – depending on the configuration – only showing work-related or leisure-related websites. Third-party developers can also integrate focus mode into their apps.
In the Messages app, iOS 16 makes it possible to edit iMessages afterwards or to undo the sending for a short time. Users can also mark their iMessage conversations as unread. All three functions are among the most requested functional innovations for the messaging service, emphasized Apple’s software chief Craig Federighi.
Message will be updated further.
