Ukraine war, crypto crash, corona lockdown in Shanghai – this week in c’t uplink we are talking about how the current situation is affecting the hardware industry.
The weekly c’t podcast c’t uplink is available …
Although the supply chains are still faltering, a lot has happened on the market. At the Computex, for example, AMD presented its Ryzen 7000 platform including the first benchmark values. According to AMD boss Lisa Su, Intel’s current top processors are clearly outperformed, but c’t hardware department head Christof Windeck was rather disappointed with the presentation. We’re discussing how the processor competition between AMD and Intel will continue – and whether Apple will release an M2 processor before the end of this year.
Above all, Ulrike Kuhlmann saw a lot of OLED televisions at the Display Week conference. The technology is also exciting for gaming displays with short latencies and high contrast. Also trending: 8K, foldable displays and 3D (!).
Finally, we’re celebrating a new entry in the list of the fastest Top500 supercomputers: “Frontier” from the USA breaks the exaflops mark and manages more than 1.1 trillion calculations per second.
Also present: Achim Barczok, Ulrike Kuhlmann, Christof Windeck
