Nvidia unveiled the GeForce GTX 1630 without a fuss: on its own website, there is an entry for the graphics card hidden in the list of specifications, and German shops also list the first manufacturer models – albeit at significantly exorbitant prices.
The first two GTX 1630 graphics cards for pre-order cost around 220 and 230 euros. In Austria, prices currently start at 190 euros. Nvidia’s recommended price is apparently 150 US dollars, which corresponds to almost 175 euros including VAT (not included in US prices).
In return, you get a small graphics card with 512 shader cores from the Turing generation and 4 GB of GDDR6 memory on 64 data paths. That means: The GeForce GTX 1630 is a low-end model that is hardly suitable for gaming. The graphics card takes over the image output if the processor does not have an integrated graphics unit. The fairly high GPU clock frequency of up to 1785 MHz does not hide this either. Although Nvidia specifies a power limit of 75 watts, the power from the PCI Express slot is not enough for GTX 1630 models – all manufacturer cards have a 6-pin power connector.
On the connection side, there is one each HDMI 2.0, Displayport 1.4 and DVI-D. This means that two 4K monitors can be operated at 60 Hertz.

Excessive prices in the entry-level class
In the case of AMD’s Radeon RX 6500 XT, we were already of the opinion that it was actually a 100-euro graphics card. Since then, the even slower Radeon RX 6400 has arrived. The GeForce GTX 1630 goes one step further: In the Techpowerup test, the Nvidia model renders an average of 38 percent fewer frames per second than the RX 6400. The latter is currently available from 160 euros.
However, you won’t have much fun in 3D games with any of the three graphics cards. If you need a model for image output, you should therefore choose a model that is as cheap as possible, such as the GeForce GT 1030 from at least 95 euros.
