Dell hints at a new security platform – but for now there are four new tools

Dell has introduced four new security services. In the long term, there are even plans to set up a platform with coordinated security tools that should cover the entire security spectrum. Dell already announced the establishment of a Zero Trust Center of Excellence last year and, in addition, continuously expanded its own programs and services to better secure end devices and the infrastructure. Now there have been new announcements in this area.

Managed Detection and Response for SMBs

The first new service is called Managed Detection and Response Pro Plus (MDR Pro Plus). This is an extension of the existing MDR offering, which, as a fully managed solution, offers a range of preventive measures to better protect all endpoints, the entire IT infrastructure, as well as software and hardware, especially from SMEs, from cyber attacks. Specifically, this includes identifying vulnerabilities and prioritizing patches, breach simulations, and penetration testing.

In the event of a successful penetration, the new tool should now also accelerate recovery. The new offer is not just limited to technical support, but also addresses the security mindset of employees, which is becoming increasingly important. The new service offers training with short, easy-to-learn modules. Added to this is the Incident Recovery Care Service, which companies can use to call in certified Dell experts to assess security incidents. Managed Detection and Response Pro Plus is available now worldwide.

Data vault protects against data theft and encryption

The recovery area is another focus of Dell’s security offerings. The Product Success Accelerator (PSX) is new here. It provides a more secure, isolated data vault in which all important data is protected from unauthorized access and encryption. Three levels of support are available to Dell customers with different lines and prices: Ready includes planning workshops for the data vault as well as its installation and configuration; Optimize also includes recommendations for the IT environment, including updates, patches, and policies. Operate also offers ongoing operational support in monitoring and analyzing all activities, initiating necessary corrections and active support in the event of a cyber attack. There is no further information on the price differences, nor on the availability of the new service.

A growing problem: insecure supply chains

In order to detect a possible compromise of new systems along the supply and shipping chain, Dell now offers a cloud version of its Secured Component Verification (SCV). It gives customers the opportunity to check the systems and detect manipulations in the delivery process at an early stage. For this purpose, a digital certificate is issued that contains information on the most important PC components and is stored in a secure cloud environment. As soon as the device arrives at the customer, it can be compared with corresponding certificates in the cloud to determine the integrity of the components. This can happen when purchasing a new PC fleet with just a single user interface, without having to check each individual device separately. SCV on Cloud will be available to Dell commercial PC users in May.

With CrowdStrike to Zero Trust – and beyond

Also new is that Dell has added the CrowdStrike Falcon cloud-native security platform to its portfolio. This includes a defense suite that can quickly detect threats, better protecting endpoints, cloud workloads, identities and data. By adding CrowdStrike to its portfolio, Dell aims to help its customers adopt a Zero Trust architecture with scalable and best-in-class applications.

“We plan to build a comprehensive platform of complementary and proven security solutions to help IT leaders make choices,” said Matt Baker, senior vice president of corporate strategy at Dell Technologies, at the launch of the new services , products and cooperation. The integration is now available worldwide. Dell provides more information in the press release on the new services.
