Some 200 people, including off-duty local police officers in Palma, retirees, relatives and friends, as well as sympathizers and those affected by the judicial investigation of the Cursach case, as well as its derivative pieces, have gathered this Sunday in the Plaza de Cort to request the resignation of the mayor of Palma, José Hila, and the former councilor for Citizen Security Angélica Pastor, who currently heads the Infrastructure area.
Those attending the concentration for the Cursach case, which began around 11:00 this Sunday, have also requested a review of the agent’s sentence Rafael Puigróscurrently in prison for coercion of the former councilor Sonia Vivas.
The Puigrós woman, Angie Again, present at the rally this Sunday, defended her husband, arguing that he “did not speak to each other, nor had he ever gone on duty with her” and recalling that he was a man who “He excelled in his work as a policeman, where he had a spotless career, in which he had never had a problem with anyone, having even received congratulations from the Mayor’s Office.”
According to the conveners, the objective has been to request the resignation of Hila and Pastor for their “alleged collaboration in the judicial investigation” promoted by judge Manuel Penalva and prosecutor Miguel Ángel Subirán “against numerous municipal officials and citizens who, through a court ruling, have been exonerated of numerous crimes.”
“These representatives of the Palma City Council, with their public demonstrations, would have violated the right of presumption of innocence of people”, maintain the organizers, who have also demanded the review of the case of the Local Police agent Rafael Puigrós, who is currently serving a sentence in prison for harassing former councilor Sonia Vivas.
In this sense, they have claimed the innocence of Puigrós since he was convicted “as a result of a separate piece derived from the parent piece, in which numerous crimes were allegedly committed by the instructors and complainants.”
