Cofares has today inaugurated its new general offices located in a business complex located in Alcobendas, an enclave of reference in the north of Madrid. The event was attended by Minister of Health, Carolina Dariasaccompanied by president of the Eduardo Pastor Cooperativewho has shown the head of Health the latest developments in pharmaceutical distribution and the daily activity carried out by the leading organization in the sector from its new facilities in Madrid.
The activity of the Cooperative, which brings together nearly 12,000 associated pharmacies and 3,000 client pharmacies, manages 17.4 million orders per year and distributes 1.5 million health products per day through its more than 2,100 capillary routes, being responsible for the custody and distribution of 1 out of every 3 medicines in Spain.
The new office building is eco-responsible and guarantees full energy efficiency. This movement will allow the organization to continue developing its activity in a sustainable way while prioritizing the well-being of its more than 3,000 employees in Spain and the establishment of talent.
Logistics pillar of the company
The offices house the company’s “control tower”, the logistics pillar that ensures the distribution of 30 million medicines each month in Spain, through real-time monitoring of the activity of the 37 centers that the Cooperative has in the national territory, through the use of digital technology.
Cofares continues with its logistics plan to adapt warehouses and open new ones so that there is a center less than an hour from each pharmacy. In this sense, the opening of 4 new centers is expected in Linares, Ourense, Tarragona and Castellón, as well as the adaptation of other warehouses in Seville, Las Palmas, Motril, Vicálvaro (Madrid), among others.
Reconciliation and well-being of employees
The new complex has more than 8,000 square meters of office space and 6,000 square meters of gardens, which include outdoor exercise, rest and meeting areas, as part of the Cofares philosophy of offering an environment in which that the well-being of the human team, productivity, multidisciplinary work and work-life balance be promoted.
The facilities have been designed for maximum operational efficiency, such that energy consumption will be 40% less than a comparable modern building. In this sense, it has the Leed Gold Certification, which supports the building’s commitment to energy efficiency, the use of alternative energies, the improvement of indoor environmental quality, the efficiency of water consumption, the sustainable development of open spaces. of the plot and the selection of all the materials used.
Likewise, it has the Well Certification, the first worldwide certification for buildings whose objective is the health and well-being of people, taking into account seven different areas: air, water, lighting, nutrition, promotion of physical exercise, comfort and the environment.
