Google likes to publish blog posts with tips on how to use their own products. This time it’s Chrome’s turn. They also announce that in the future it will be possible to secure the browser on Android using a biometric ID. This is already possible with iOS, but it is new for Android.
The authentication when opening Chrome is intended to ensure that even with a free smartphone, nobody can see the browser history who is not supposed to. To do this, you have to surf in incognito mode. The setting can be found under “Privacy and security” and is called “Save incognito tabs when closing Chrome”. Both Face and Touch ID are suitable.
History, alarm and password manager
Another feature that Google draws attention to in the blog post is the ability to clear browser history, cache and cookies by typing “clear browsing data” or “clear browsing data” in the address bar. A dialog window should open immediately. However, it doesn’t work when I try it.
In the Chrome settings there is a guide to the security features of the browser. This takes you step by step. Google points out that you should check your settings more often. A security check can now also be selected as an alarm. This also indicates updates. It should also remind you which information you have shared with which pages – in order to delete or change this if necessary.
Of course, Google also wants you to use your own password manager. It is available for iOS, Android and on desktop and integrates directly into Chrome. A synchronization with the Google account increases the usability accordingly.
