Unknown attackers were able to view JD Sports’ archived order details. Around 10 million customers of the online shop for sportswear are said to be affected.

Personal data leaked

This emerges from an article on the website of the London Stock Exchange. The company states that there has been unauthorized access to orders placed between November 2018 and October 2020. The in-house brands Blacks, JD, Scotts and MilletSport and Size? to be affected.

They assure that the attackers did not have access to complete payment data such as credit card numbers. Passwords should not be affected either. Personal data such as e-mail addresses, invoices and telephone numbers were leaked.

Beware of scams

In the context of access, the retailer warns of possible phishing emails. Finally, attackers could misuse the captured data to compose more credible fraudulent emails. If you have an account there, you should change your password for security reasons. If the password is also used for other online services, a quick change is also required there.

It is not yet known how the attackers gained access to the systems. It also remains unclear why JD Sports archived the almost five-year-old order.
