More cloud storage, more services: A little earlier than announced, Apple launched its largest subscription bundle in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and fourteen other countries. Existing customers have been able to switch to the new premium bundle since the night on Tuesday, which costs just under 29 euros per month. New subscribers should receive the option by Wednesday at the latest.
In addition to the music and video streaming services Apple Music (family access) and TV +, the bundle also includes the Arcade game service and Fitness +. The fitness service for Apple Watch owners should start in this country this week.
2 TB of cloud storage included, 4 TB possible
Apple One Premium also includes 2 TB of iCloud storage space and iCloud +. Additional cloud storage space can be booked for a surcharge: for an additional 10 euros per month, it is possible for the first time in Germany to receive 4 TB of storage space for iCloud. Subscription and storage space can be shared with up to five other family members as part of family sharing.
In the USA, the “Premier” bundle (30 US dollars per month) also includes the magazine and news flat rate “News +”, which Apple has so far only introduced in four countries. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland it is not included in the bundle.
Apple One includes a 30-day free period for services that customers have not yet subscribed to, as Apple announced in advance. They want to recommend a suitable bundle to iPhone owners based on their existing subscriptions.
Apple counts on subscribers
Subscriptions are an increasingly important pillar of Apple’s services division, which brought the company over $ 68 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2021 – more than the Macs and iPads combined. According to its own information, Apple now has 745 million paying subscribers, which also includes subscriptions for third-party services that were concluded in apps via the company’s payment interface. How many subscribers Apple One and Apple’s streaming services have remains unclear.
