Amnesty as a fetish

Until a few days ago, the buzzword was stuttered as if calling pigs: “Amn…, amn…, amn…”. It is already pronounced emphatically. Amnesty is the legal oblivion of crimes that extinguishes the responsibility of their authors. If crimes and reasons for forgetting involve violations of human rights, the term takes on a social dimension related to overcoming a past traumatic conflict that divides society. In this sense, the elements to take into account when making the decision to grant said amnesty become peace, justice, reconciliation and responsibility, with two clear sides: the winners and the losers.

The acting president and leader of the PSOE, who is tasked by the King with forming a Government, proposes amnesty for the politicians of the process. He jealously guards the proposal that he is discussing with Junts – Carles Puigdemont’s party -, which would put an end to the judicial consequences that fall on him. His words are a clear maneuver from his usual bream monologue. This is how he spoke last Friday in Granada: «We are in full negotiation. “There will be no agreement until everything is agreed.” How is there going to be an agreement if there is nothing agreed? He continues to distribute firewood for the stoves among the needy in the town, his thefts of firewood exceed any limit, because they do not realize that it is stolen firewood.

I am not saying anything new if I affirm that the language of the Sánchez Gómez family is anything but logical and rational: commonplace verbiage for the shapeless, uneducated or interested masses. Upon arriving at Moncloa, your common sense should lead you to say this: “My daughters, you are now close to me.” To which the girls must respond excitedly: «Dear daddy, what injustice have you committed today? “Are you still doing things you said you wouldn’t do?” To non-socialist ears like ours, the evil smile of a red flag, poisoned, of brothel heritage, would sound like cannons; But in that home, led by a brutalized Barbie wannabe, the moral recommendations are always reversed. But I don’t want to distract from the central theme of this column, although the temptation is strong (and more fun, admit it).

Good Catalans have been continuously yielding to nationalism for more than four decades. The amnesty, which is not contemplated in the Constitution, is an exceptional measure of grace, like the end of war or the transition from one system to another. The current case is simply a political favor, to which an attempt is being made to give an image of normality for the happy coexistence of the inhabitants of Catalonia. It is, in reality, the sacrifice of all those who do not agree with the independence postulates. It is not a measure of grace, it is a political concession so that Sánchez and his satellites can continue governing in Spain. The amnesty proposed by Sánchez represents a manipulated psychological deviation, since he believes that he has supernatural powers. Idolatry, excessive veneration, even subliminal sexual attraction. To me everything in it already seems very boring, tiring, repetitive scenes. He starts to smell like mothballs, the kind that causes vomiting.
