Sony is porting another Playstation blockbuster for the PC: The open-world game “Horizon Forbidden West” will appear as a complete edition on Steam and in the Epic Games Store in early 2024, Sony announced. Until now, the main game was only available on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.

The “Burning Shores” DLC can currently only be played on the PS5 – Sony no longer developed it for the older PS4 version. PC players also get it as part of the Complete Edition, which includes the main game and “Burning Shores”, the digital soundtrack and some exclusive in-game items.
Studio Nixxes, which already made the PC version of “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart,” is apparently responsible for the PC port. The Complete Edition of “Horizon Forbidden West” will cost 70 euros on the console. It is likely that the PC version will also be sold at this price.
Two years after console release
“Forbidden West” is the latest in a series of Playstation blockbusters that have been ported to the PC over time. In the case of “Forbidden West,” there will probably be a wait of two years: The action game originally went on sale in February 2022 for PS5 and PS4.
“Forbidden West” is the successor to “Horizon Zero Dawn,” which was released for the PC in 2020 after a three-year Playstation exclusive period. Players once again take on the role of the main character Aloy, who hunts robo-dinosaurs in a post-apocalyptic world with a spear, bow and arrow.
“Forbidden West” is one of Sony’s best in-house developments in recent years, but sold comparatively weakly: As of April 2023, Sony reported 8.4 million units sold, fewer than other large in-house productions from the Japanese. The release of Forbidden West was largely overshadowed by Elden Ring, which sold over 20 million copies.
