The National Police has arrested a priest from the Diocese of Malaga in Vélez-Málaga (Málaga, 83,899 inhabitants) for sexually assaulting at least five women whom he had previously sedated. They all belong to their close circle of friends and did not know that they had suffered a sexual crime due to the substances that their friend gave them to render them unconscious. He then took the opportunity to sexually assault them, record the events and then save them on a hard drive. The situation has been repeated over several years on different trips, so the existence of more victims is not ruled out, especially in Malaga, Córdoba and Melilla, where this 34-year-old man has resided. He has already entered prison accused, for the moment, of four sexual assaults and five crimes against privacy. Sources from the Malaga bishopric have assured that they are collecting information to issue a statement in the next few hours.
A woman was the one who filed a complaint last August with the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM) of Melilla, where the detainee was stationed until his transfer to Vélez-Málaga. He reported that in the apartment where he lived with his partner he had found a hard drive and that upon consulting the contents he found photographs and videos in which a man appeared performing all types of sexual practices on a series of semi-naked women who seemed to be asleep or under the effects of some sedative. She then thought that the acts might not be consensual and, therefore, she made a copy of the disk that she transferred to the agents at the Melilla police station.
The UFAM team analyzed the graphic material and discovered that the presence of a man who sexually assaulted women who were unconscious and who, in addition, took photographs and videos of these events, was repeated. The agents managed to identify five of the victims and when they asked them about what happened, none of them had any news about it. All of them stated that they were unaware of the existence of the recordings and were not aware of having suffered any sexual crime due to the state of unconsciousness in which they were at that time. To achieve this, the man “would have supplied the victims with some type of substance that annulled his state of consciousness in order to carry out the sexual assaults,” as reported by the National Police in a statement. The investigation also served to discover that the attacks had been carried out continuously, in different years and places, during trips by groups of friends of the detainee.
Finally, a few days ago several police officers launched a device near the home of the aggressor, who lived in Vélez-Málaga and where his arrest was finally made. In the search of his home, various technological and computer material was found that is still pending analysis, so investigators do not rule out that new victims may be found, especially residents of the cities where the man has lived: Melilla, Málaga. and Córdoba. After being brought before the court, the court ordered him placed in preventive detention.
