“Baldur’s Gate 3”: Third patch adds Mac support

“Baldur’s Gate 3” is released for the Mac: With the third patch, developer Larian also delivers the full version for all Mac computers that were previously only able to play the early access version of the role-playing game with limited content. The patch will be released on Friday, the Belgian studio announced on X.

The Mac is the youngest platform on which the full version of “Baldur’s Gate 3” runs. Larian first released the game for Windows PCs, followed by the Playstation 5 in September. The Xbox version is still in the works: The console was left behind for a long time because Larian couldn’t follow one of Microsoft’s important rules: Microsoft demands that there should be no functional differences between the strong Series X and the significantly weaker Series S. Larian and Microsoft have now been able to agree on a compromise. The Xbox version of “Baldur’s Gate 3” is scheduled to be released later this year.

Makeup mirror to change appearance

Another highlight feature of the third patch has been requested by the community since launch: the ability to change the appearance of the main character created. As with “Divinity: Original Sin 2”, this happens from patch 3 with a magic mirror that Larian integrates into the camp.

Through the mirror, players can change their main character’s face and voice, Larian announced. However, the races and the chosen body type cannot be changed later. The appearance of the predefined game characters (Larian calls them “Origin Characters”) cannot be edited using the mirror.

A way to change the character’s appearance was high on the list of community requests. Larian had previously hinted at working on it. Patch 3 follows a good three weeks after the second major patch for Larian’s extremely successful role-playing game. While previous patches mainly contained bug fixes and performance improvements, Larian wants to respond more closely to community requests in the future.

Larian has not yet specified a time when Patch 3 for “Baldur’s Gate 3” will be released. The studio has not yet published a complete changelog.
