Public collection from registration tax stood at 463.4 million euros in the accumulated of the first eight months of the year, which represents an increase of 14.7% compared to the 403.9 million euros recorded in the 2022 period.
According to data from the Tax Agency, the autonomous communities received 61.4 million euros for this tax in the month of July, 7.9% more than a year ago, while in August collection grew by 8.8% in compared to 2022, up to 45.8 million euros.
The public coffers received an average of 753 euros in registration tax for each vehicle in August, 1 euro more than in the eighth month of 2022, while in July the average fee was 763, 14 euros more than a year before. So far this year, the average fee was 731 euros (725 euros in 2022).
Average vehicle price
Spanish customers purchased vehicles during the month of August with an average price (including tax) of 23,926 euros, which translates into an increase of 9.9% (2,162 euros more) compared to the same month of the previous year, while which in July was 23,968 euros (+9.5% and 2,083 euros more). The average price paid accumulated until August was 23,613 euros, an 8.2% increase.
In August, registered cars emitted an average of 118 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometer, six grams less than a year before, while in July vehicles had an average emission of 119 grams of CO2, 4 grams less than in 2022. Between January and last month, average emissions were cut by four grams, to 118 grams per kilometer.
The total amount of vehicles registered in Spain in the eighth month of 2023 stood at 1,409 million euros, a 19.9% increase, while in July it was 1,868 million, 16.3% more. For its part, in the eight months the value of vehicles sold was 14,514 million euros, with a 23.4% increase.
