The Congress of Deputies has approved the use of co-official languages after the president of the Lower House, the socialist Francina Armengol, allowed their use in the plenary session this Tuesday and before the resolution was passed. The initiative has gone ahead with the vote in favor of the majority of the Chamber: PSOE, Sumar, ERC, Junts, Bildu, PNV, the BNG and the Canary Coalition.
PP, Vox and UPN have voted against this resolution and have criticized its emergency procedure. The reform of the regulations of the Lower House has had 176 yeses, 169 noes and 2 abstentions. From now on, a period of 48 hours is open to present amendments to the entirety and partial amendments. These amendments will predictably be rejected in the debate that will take place this Thursday in Congress.
With this resolution, the use of Catalan, Basque, Galician, Bable and Aranese is implemented in plenary sessions, commissions, and in all initiatives, which must require translations.
