Sonos Move 2 in the test: Bluetooth speaker with good sound and battery Same design, additional buttons First Wi-Fi setup, then Bluetooth works Parallel radio now also works Wired music better with the original adapter More convenient volume and track changes Battery also serves as a power bank Conclusion
With the Era 100 and Era 300, Sonos wanted to mark the start of a new product era. In fact, innovations introduced there are now finding their way into other speaker categories from the manufacturer. The second generation of the battery-powered outdoor speaker Sonos Move warbles high frequencies instead of one tweeter, now with two tweeters, which is supposed to give a single device something like stereo sound. Sonos has also expanded the number of controls on the cover plate and integrated transmission via WLAN and Bluetooth more closely. Is this new composition worth the increased purchase price of 500 euros? To check this, the Sonos Move 2 was tested online at heise before it was launched on September 20th.
Same design, additional buttons
The design of the original move from 2019 (test) has aged well. Sonos continues to use the minimalist design language almost unchanged in the new edition. The perforated grille curved in a semicircle and the prominently placed Sonos logo are the only decorative elements of the cylindrical housing. The fact that it has grown one millimeter in height (to 241 millimeters) and one millimeter in depth (to 127 millimeters) can only be seen in a direct comparison with the previous model. The width of 160 millimeters and the weight of 3 kilos remain identical.
What’s new is the additional capacitive volume control on the top, which the Move 2 adopts from the Era 100 and Era 300. On the back, the pairing button that was previously common on Sonos has been replaced by a toggle switch. He switches the built-in microphones on and off. Instead of six, there are only four of them in the new move.
