Ukraine | The European Parliament accuses Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko of war crimes for his complicity with Vladimir Putin in the invasion of Ukraine. Calls on the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant against him
The European Parliament has formally accused Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko of colluding with Vladimir Putin in the commission of war crimes in Ukraine. And consequently, it has approved a resolution urging the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant against him.
Lukashenko has allowed “Russia’s unjustified war of aggression,” the text says, and is therefore “directly responsible” for the destruction and damage caused to Ukraine.
In a separate accusation, the European Parliament also accuses Belarus of playing a role in the forcible deportation of Ukrainian children from territories occupied by Russian troops.
MEPs call for the application of “mirror” sanctions to Belarus, similar to those applied by the European Union against Moscow.
