A young influencer managed to sneak into New York Fashion Week on September 9 to parade as just another model. He was dressed in a shower cap that covered his head and a plastic raincoat as a suit. During his journey, the young man looked away repeatedly to avoid the arrest of security personnel, who were alerted at the last minute and who forcibly removed him from the stage.
So far it is unknown what happened to the young man. The video of his capture has gone viral on social networks and the reactions of multiple users have not been long in coming. “Fashion is so bad and so shabby that anyone can go unnoticed in a fashion show because of their clothing.” Several people have identified the imposter and have reported that it is Fred Beyer, an influencer who has 65 thousand followers on Instagram and 300 thousand on YouTube.
Fred Beyer, prank expert
At 21 years old and born in Florida, Fred Beyer is mainly dedicated to making jokes and recording them for his YouTube channel. In fact, he rose to fame for a compilation video of The Funniest Pranks of 2022 that went viral, which included using a horn in a library or setting off fire alarms. For this occasion he decided to wear a garbage bag and a shower cap and sneak into a fashion show, something that worked, since none of the spectators suspected that he was a model. He was later captured by event security but his purpose had already been fulfilled.
More spontaneous at fashion shows
This event is not the first time it has occurred during a fashion show. In 2019, during the Chanel Spring-Summer 2020 fashion show, the French brand saw a girl sneak among the models to parade with them during the carousel, going completely unnoticed because the other models did not notice her presence. It was Marie Benoliel, a French comedian who goes by the name Marie S’Infiltre on social media. After infiltrating the parade she managed to gain several thousand followers on her Instagram account. Finally Marie was expelled by one of the models who were parading.
Although not all people who sneak into fashion shows dress up in costume, activists and animal rights activists have interrupted a large number of shows with the purpose of protesting the use of fur in clothing or the exploitation of animals as guinea pigs. Another event that occurred this New York Fashion Week was when a group of PETA activists stormed the catwalk with signs that said “leather clothing kills.” The altercation occurred the same day that an environmental protest occurred in the stands of Arthur Ashe Stadium, forcing the US Open semifinal to be suspended for 40 minutes.
