Marta Lois (Sumar): “We ask Feijóo to retire”
PP and Sumar have addressed, for the first time in a meeting, the investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whose debate is scheduled in two weeks. After the meeting between the general secretary of the popular group, Carlos Rojas, and the parliamentary spokesperson for Yolanda Díaz’s party, Marta Lois, the Sumar deputy has asked the popular leader “to retire.” The conversation between the two, described by both parties as “cordial”, lasted about 40 minutes and ended without surprises.
Just 24 hours after the conservative leader admitted to his people his probable defeat in this process in Congress, the PP has insisted on its offensive against a possible amnesty law demanded by the independentists to support Pedro Sánchez and the rejection of the meeting between Díaz and the leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont, last week in Brussels; Sumar, for his part, has placed emphasis on the “waste of time” to which Feijóo subjects citizens with his investiture. The popular ones have reproached Sumar for Díaz meeting with former president Puigdemont, but he did not do so with Feijóo.
“I have told him that it seems unacceptable to us that the PSOE and the acting Government are talking about amnesty and are contemplating something that is unconstitutional for having power at any price,” said Rojas, who told Lois that “they do not understand.” ” the meeting of the vice president with a “fugitive from justice.”
“From Sumar we ask you to withdraw, that after these more than 20 days dragging your feet, knowing that this investiture is a failed investiture, you withdraw. That’s enough, we have been wasting a lot of time and we need a progressive Government for our country as soon as possible,” the spokesperson told the media.
The deputy from Sumar has insisted on asking the PP that if it “really commits to dialogue”, it respects “the great social agreements”, such as, she said, the trans law and the labor reform, in reference to the resources of the popular parties against the rule of Irene Montero’s department and the vote in Congress on the law on the labor market. Rojas has acknowledged that on this point “they have different positions.”
