The objective of those responsible for the project is to carry it out before the 2024 Olympic Games
Choosing the sky instead of the road will soon be possible in Paris.

An electric air taxi service will be launched during the 2024 Olympic Games.
But, what does this type of trip consist of?
The answer lies in this vertiport, Europe’s first drone airport, a test terminal near Paris.
“You will proceed to check-in. We need to know that you are the right person at the right time. Here is our small passenger lounge. And about 5 minutes before departure, you will be asked to board the air taxi. Here too, we have a biometric gate. And they are allowed to board,” says Damian Kysely, head of infrastructure for Europe and the Middle East at Skysports.
They board and take off towards one of the five vertiports surrounding Paris, one of them in the center of the city, on a barge floating on the Seine.
It remains to be seen whether the residents of the city of lights will accept the incorporation of these machines… 4 times quieter than a helicopter, according to those responsible for the project.
Edward Arkwright, ADP group chief executive, says: “First and foremost, the new forms of air mobility are today’s low-carbon aviation. It is also aviation that makes possible other uses: those we think of: transporting people , package transportation, emergency and medical services. And those we haven’t thought of yet.”
As for manufacturers, Paris’ choice fell on Volocopter and its two-seat aircraft.
The German company hopes to quickly obtain approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency.
Jean Christophe Drai, Volocpter’s French commercial manager, says: “Our priority today, and what we are all working for and dedicating all our resources to, is machine certification. So our goal is something reasonable, something that can be delivered, that it will actually exist, instead of making promises that we will never be able to keep.
Will Paris be the first capital in the world to launch a flying taxi service? The numerous actors behind the project believe so. “They have less than a year before the Olympic Games to convince regulators and authorities.”
