The death toll from the earthquake that hit Morocco this Friday stands at 2,012 people and the injured amount to 2,059, according to data collected by the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior until 10:00 p.m. local time yesterday.
In a statement, the Government has reported that of the total number of injured, 1,404 are in serious condition.
According to these latest official data, victims were registered in a dozen provinces: Al Haouz, -to the south of Marrakech and close to the epicenter-, with 1,293 deaths, followed by Taroudant (452 fatalities), Chichaoua (191 deaths), Ouarzazate ( 41), Marrakech (15), Azilal (11), Agadir (5), Casablanca (3), Al Youssufia (1) and in Tinguir (1).
The seismic alert bulletin released by the Moroccan National Institute of Geophysics explains that the earthquake, of magnitude 7, shook the northern Moroccan region of Marrakech and occurred at 11:11 p.m. local time on Friday at a depth of 8 kilometers.

It had its epicenter in the town of Ighil, located about 80 kilometers southwest of the city of Marrakech.
Rescue
The General Staff of the Moroccan Armed Forces has declared full mobilization and Emergency and Civil Protection services continue to mobilize resources to care for the wounded and affected and try to rescue people trapped under the rubble as the authorities analyze the severity of the the damages.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water has already begun work on locating the roads cut by the damage caused by the earthquake for their subsequent repair. The Ministry has mobilized its entire staff and material means to reopen the affected points to traffic.

The Marrakech Regional Blood Transfusion Center has also called for blood donation to women and men over 18 years of age.
Meanwhile, NGOs and political parties have launched fundraising campaigns to help the victims in Rabat, Salé and Kenitra and the National Association of Private Clinics has put all its means at the disposal of the authorities to help the victims.
