The acting president of the Spanish Government has indicated that if he continues governing he will continue with the policy of “dialogue” and “concord” in Catalonia since, in his opinion, it is “a fully constitutional solution” to the “serious inherited fracture” and that has worked.
The acting president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, assured this Monday before his investiture attempt, after already considering that of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, failed, that the agreement “can, must and will be reached without fear, with ambition and with audacity”.
During his speech at an event organized by the Ateneo de Madrid, Sánchez was optimistic about his future investiture and stressed that his Executive will continue working for coexistence with a project that “without fissures” supports the Constitution.
He has also stated that he will attempt this investiture “without delay”, as soon as the “useless waiting time” with which he has said that Feijóo has decided to “entertain” Spanish society is over.
Commits to continue with the “constitutional solution” of dialogue in Catalonia
Sánchez added that if he continues to govern he will continue with the policy of “dialogue” and “concord” in Catalonia since, in his opinion, it is “a fully constitutional solution” to the “serious inherited fracture” and that it has worked.
During his speech, Sánchez commented that one of his priorities for the new legislature if he manages to continue leading the Government will be “to continue ensuring coexistence between territories and people, defending that plural Spain and leaving behind a past of trenches and dialectical barricades. “.
Specifically, regarding Catalonia, he said that in recent years his Government has taken “brave, risky and on some occasions also misunderstood by society” measures, but he stressed that it was for the “noble purpose” of solving “the serious “inherited fracture” from Mariano Rajoy’s Executive in this autonomous community.
“Betting on dialogue and harmony are the best solution to this crisis, a solution that is fully constitutional and that has worked, because Catalonia is infinitely better today than it was five years ago. The time has come to be coherent and continue advancing in the purpose for coexistence,” he declared.
For this reason, he stressed that the next legislature “must be the one that definitively leaves behind the fracture that we experienced in 2017” in Catalonia.
