A group of hitmen who tried to murder a businessman in Puçol (Valencia) were arrested

The Civil Guard has arrested four people, three men and one woman, members of a criminal group of hitmen who allegedly tried to kill a businessman in the Valencian town of Puçol (Valencia, 20,191 inhabitants) last December, according to reports. The armed institute reported this Monday in a statement. Two of the detainees allegedly fired a firearm from a motorcycle at the victim, who managed to escape, while a third is being investigated for providing cover from a vehicle. The woman is suspected of having hidden the weapon. The price of the murder was 30,000 euros, according to the investigations. A first payment of 15,000 euros had been agreed. They were supposed to receive the rest at the end of the assignment, but they did not receive it because their arrest was precipitated. Three of the detainees have been imprisoned.

The assassination attempt took place at the end of 2022. The businessman from Puçol reported that, upon arriving at his company with his vehicle and just as he was opening the driver’s door to get off, two people riding a motorcycle stopped next to him. height and without saying a word they pointed a firearm at him. The assailants fired a first shot that missed him in the head by a few centimeters and when they were about to fire a second shot, the businessman accelerated quickly and managed to flee with his vehicle. The Civil Guard found at the scene a 22 caliber short firearm casing and a lead projectile, deformed after the impact. The ballistics department of the Civil Guard in Valencia analyzed them and then began a double investigation to locate those responsible and find out what happened.

The agents identified the used motorcycle and led them to a criminal group of Colombian hitmen based in the provinces of Valencia and Girona. After following the movements of the suspects, they found out that they had been carrying out sporadic surveillance of the victim and his surroundings for three months, before the frustrated assassination attempt. The suspects’ objective was to know the area through which the victim moved, her schedule and habits, to plan the appropriate time and place to carry out the crime and the possibilities of escape. The investigative team located the weapon and reached a fourth person, the detained woman, who is being investigated for hiding the gun. According to the investigation, the arrested woman received periodic payments through an intermediary through an immediate transfer application.

The suspects planned to kill the businessman this summer, but ran into problems. One of those investigated had recently undergone surgery and could not participate, so the rest of the members looked for a substitute hitman who was going to travel from Colombia. Faced with the imminent threat of a new attack on the victim’s life and to protect him, the Civil Guard has arrested and completely dismantled this group. Investigators have not commented on the person who commissioned the murder.

During the police operation, five searches were carried out at homes, two in the town of Sollana (Valencia) and three in Figueres (Girona). In them, two short firearms loaded with ammunition were located and seized, one of them with a silencer, as well as a business card with the address and telephone number of the victim’s company, a handwritten map of the town of Puçol, the motorcycle used by the authors and the tourism that provided them coverage.

In total there are four detainees: three men and one woman, all of Colombian nationality, between 24 and 63 years old. The three men are charged with the crime of attempted murder, membership in a criminal group and illegal possession of weapons, while the detained woman is accused of the crimes of membership in a criminal group and illegal possession of weapons.

The investigation is carried out by the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 1 of Massamagrell, which decreed the provisional detention of the three material authors and the release with precautionary measures of the fourth person.
