Pedro Sánchez’s telephone line is active. And waiting for a call that is being asked for: that of the president of the PP and candidate for the presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Despite the fact that the ‘popular’ has expressed this Monday through the media his desire to meet with Sánchez, late this Monday, he had not yet called him to address the meeting. A condition, the prior call, that Moncloa places as essential to set a date for the meeting with an important notice: the acting president “has several national and international commitments” to attend to. So if you don’t do it already, this week, the date will depend on his travels outside of Spain. And there are many that he has in the coming days: New Delhi, Strasbourg and New York.
“Sánchez accepts the proposed meeting, but not before there is a telephone call between the two that eight hours later has not taken place,” socialist sources said at the end of this Monday. A contact that a priori had to start from Genoa 13, as reported by Feijóo’s entourage, but that had not yet occurred. It will be from that call, in which Pedro Sánchez will already tell him that he has no intention of supporting his investiture, when the respective teams will get to work to set the appointment. In the PP they are willing, according to sources close to Feijóo, for it to even take place in La Moncloa, to make things easier for the PSOE leader.
In Ferraz they do not tire of repeating that what will take place on September 26 and 27 in Congress, despite having been commissioned by King Felipe VI, is a “fake investiture.” Well, they use these derogatory words to attack the lack of support for Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The Socialists, before the meeting that the ‘popular’ leader and Sánchez will hold, also state that “it is important that the PP show its respect for the PSOE beforehand.” Although until now it has been the leaders of the PSOE, also the acting President of the Government, who have attacked the leader of the Popular Party, whom Pedro Sánchez has not yet personally congratulated for the victory at the polls on July 23.
Date
Regarding the date on which the meeting that Feijóo requests and that Sánchez accepts can be held, in the PSOE they remember the institutional agenda of the acting chief executive as a condition. “Depending on the possibilities and the agenda of the President of the Government, who has several national and international commitments, we will look for the best moment to be able to hold the meeting within the democratic normality that the PSOE has always defended,” they explain.
