The Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, has ratified this Thursday that the free kindergartens in the stage from 0 to 3 years will be applied from September. “It is a commitment from the Government” Vera said when asked about this issue. The free nurseries are for the entire network of public and private centers that sign agreements with the Government and that will become part of the complementary network. Vera has announced that to date a total of 11 private educational centers “have decided to join the 0-3 free” and have requested to join the complementary network.
At the end of July, the President of the Government, Marga Prohens, announced that the educational stage from 0 to 3 years of age would be free of charge starting next September. “We put on the table that for the next course work is being done to fulfill free education in the stage from 0 to 3 years and the right that families and children have equally, whatever their educational option,” said the Chairwoman.
During the electoral campaign, Prohens already announced his commitment to free education from zero to three years “for everyone.”
Prohens’ proposal is more ambitious than the one approved by the Armengol Government, which only offered free admission in the 2 to 3-year stage
Now the Government of Prohens extends the free nursery throughout the first stage of childhood and both for public centers and subsidized and private centers that are integrated into the complementary network. It is a proposal similar to the one announced in the campaign by the candidate for the Government of the nation for the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for all of Spain in case he manages to govern.
This Thursday, the Minister of Education Antoni Vera, presides over the extraordinary session of the Participation Table of the First Cycle of Early Childhood Education Sector, in which the extraordinary term of adhesion to the complementary network and the freeness in the first cycle of Child Education.
In this way, Vera has made reference to the publication of a resolution by the Director General of Early Childhood, in which the term for private educational schools to join this complementary network was extended. Thus, said period ends this Friday.
At the moment, the minister has indicated, there are 11 centers that have applied to join and they would represent approximately between 250 and 300 more places.
The meeting will discuss the gratuity of this stage, “a commitment from the Government and that is already underway,” explained Vera. Thus, «the way in which administrative procedures will be carried out during this course in order to be able to provide this gratuity involves not only all the public schools dependent on the municipalities of the Islands, but also all the private ones that are in the network and have or they will have an agreement signed soon with the Ministry of Education ».
On the other hand, the minister has reported that at this time there is “a process of converting care into education.” In this line, he has highlighted that “the files are open and that there are scouts that are pending completion of the works,” reports Europa Press.
“Once the technicians have been able to certify that they meet all the requirements, they will also be able to join for free during this school year in the coming months,” he added. Thus, he has indicated that “exceptionally this year it will be done this way in order to reach many more students.”
As for whether the escoletas are willing to take charge of the advances so that parents do not have to pay as of September, the minister has said that the Government is an issue that they are “working on and that next week Probably, the regulations will be approved to be able to carry out this gratuity and all the administrative machinery will be put into operation ».
In this sense, he has indicated that “it is set in motion” so that “the time that elapses between the beginning of the course and the administration being able to pay the money to the escoletas is as short as possible.” “Let’s see if by reinforcing the service as it is being done, the term can be much shorter than last year,” he declared.
On the other hand, regarding the change of Government, Vera has indicated that “it has not affected the centers at all” and that from the Ministry “it has only tried to make life easier for the centers, since until now they had enough difficulties.” Therefore, she has continued, “the change is supposed to have been for the better.”
Likewise, he has made reference to “an evaluation outline that will soon be taken to the information and negotiation tables that the Ministry has and is talking with all the municipalities on infrastructure issues.”
Obviously, the minister has concluded, “there are things that cannot be done”, such as “investments that cannot be made now”. However, he has assured that the Government will try to “start the course as normally as possible”, taking into account that the Ministry “has already found a programmatic course.”
