The optimal PC 2024: Which building proposal would you like?

For more than 20 years we have been delivering construction proposals for desktop PCs in c’t in the run-up to Christmas under the title “The optimal PC”. We have planned the same for this year, but with one change: we would like to hear your wishes and suggestions. These can be properties such as “quiet”, “economical” or “compact” that the computer must meet. Above all, it would be important for us that you tell us for which application areas the computer should be suitable, for example “4K gaming”, “simple office and web applications” or “high-performance rendering machine”. If you already have detailed ideas, you can of course also express specific component requests. Just send us an email to [email protected].

As a suggestion, you can get inspiration from some projects that we have published in the last few months. Our budget gaming PC for 600 euros is brand new and is suitable for smooth gaming in Full HD resolution. In spring we presented a mini PC with a six-core processor for the home office. The optimal PC 2023 was divided into an inexpensive all-rounder with 13 watts of idle power consumption and a high-end machine with a powerful Ryzen 16-core processor.

We then try to extract our building proposals for the optimal PC 2024 from the collected submissions.
